We are Philadelphia's Run of the Mill String Band, an old-time Appalachian string band preserving and performing traditional American music. Fiddle, banjo, guitar and upright bass comprise the usual configuration of the band, but sometimes we mix it up with two fiddles, fretless banjo, mandolin, banjo-mandolin, steel-guitar, banjo-guitar, archtop guitar, and upright bass. We sing some, too. Regardless of configuration, we strive to maintain the tradition of the music, while at the same time, making it our own. Run of the Mill String Band is Palmer Loux, Greg Loux, Paul Sidlick, and Mat Clark. We’ve been together for well over twenty years and we feel we’re still starting our stride. We're proud to be part of the greater Philadelphia old-time music scene.
We perform in concert, play for square dances, contra dances, parties, weddings…just about any type of event where up-beat, energetic acoustic music is in order. We’ve got a couple of recordings of our old-time music and although we’re not offering them for sale at this site, we’ve got some links to where you can purchase them.
If you’re looking for more information about us, you can find it by perusing our site. We’ve got a media kit for those interested in such material. We’ve also got a way for you to register yourself on our list in case you’d like to hear some occasional news about us.
Thanks for stopping by. We hope to meet up with you sometime.
Best regards,
Run of the Mill String Band
